I had this happen with Tabitha when she was a kitten. She also curled up on my lap and started shaking so I thought she was in pain and took her straight to the vet who gave her an anti-inflammatory injection and a painkiller. It worked almost instantly and by the evening she was trying to climb the furniture again. I was amazed at how quickly she recovered.
