I'm going through a similar thought process about my cat. She is an outside cat, she was micro-chipped on Sataurday.

I'm a bit hesitant to put a collar on her though. I've heard they can be very dangerous, even the safety ones can cause bad injuries if the cat gets caught in something and collar doesn't snap.

Plus, from what I remember of the cats we had when I was young, they HATED wearing collars and they never lasted long anyway.

So I'm thinking I won't put a collar on my cat.
