Just a tip - as with any other dogs, check carefully to ensure there are no inherited diseases in the bloodline. My last border collie developed severe epilepsy which the vet was unable to control, and we had to have her put down at 3 years old, which was really heartbreaking. My vet says this is more and more common in collies, as it often doesn't start until they are between 18 months to 3 years old, by which time they may have already been bred and passed on the faulty gene. :
