Ahhh, bless. Some kittens/cats don't like being kissed & cuddled. What you could do is just sit with some treats or some of their favourite food on your hand and let them come to you, then gradually over time move closer & closer to the settee, they might just be happy to sit or lie beside you or eventually climb on your lap themselves. Sometimes these things take time though, But worth it in the end.
