You need to deal with the seperation anxiety before crating him or he could do himself some serious damage. Our Milo had seperation anxiety and we tried crating him, he loved it while we were in but hated it as soon as we left. We had to knock it on the head and deal with the seperation anxiety, once we had dealt with that there was no need for a crate because he's now perfectly behaved while we are out.
