I wouldn't recommend using chick crumbs - I heard this tip before and because my aunt owns a chicken farm and I could get this for free I gave it a try.
What an absolute nightmare
The dust went everywhere and cleaning up the mess was such a pain - I decided it wasn't worth it even if it was free
