Re: just a post about a very dominent dog
The pack theory can in many cases be an effective way of setting a foundation for living with dogs. It is however not the be all and end all, as there are many other avenues you can go down. Positively reinforcing wanted behaviour has proved succesful. Some therapies such as the Bowen technique can also be good used in conjunction with general good handling. There are some good little books by a lady called Turid Rugaas on various dog handling issues, these are titled 'My Dog Pulls, What Do I Do' , 'Barking (the sound of a language), 'On Talking Terms With Dogs'.
There is a good association called INTOdogs (intuitive natural training for owners and dogs) that have a list of people around the country who can come out and visit you. They are also reasonably priced
