Re: Hi how many litters is too many?

Hello Karen - as Wendy says, depends on how frequently your queen gets pregnant. Mine only have kittens about once a year. My queen Suki has already had 4 litters at the age of 4 and a half. She may have another litter in due course. She appears to be fit and strong but I shall check to see how she copes with this litter. If she does well, her sixth may be her last litter. If she struggles, the next, her fifth will be her last litter. Each queen is slightly different and some are stronger than others. There are queens who can easily cope with seven litters in their lifetime, I have even heard of queens who have been made pregnant more times than this. However, for my own peace of mind, I will probably have Suki spayed after her sixth, depending on how she does ... I would far rather have a moderate amount of litters (well in fairness to Suki, she has already done very well) and a nice long retirement / life of luxury for her, than a short life and a multitude of litters.
