We have both our dogs insured with healthy pets. they are quite reasonable, and as mentioned above some companies only cover some ilnesses for a specified period whereas healthy pets cover ongoing problems. our dog at my parents is getting really old now and the past few years he has had a lot of ongoing problems with legs and things, so its reassuring to have.
