I can't really help sorry Trish as none of ours are insured. When we had just 2cats, they were both insured with Pet Plan, (going back about 6 years) and then it cost us £13 per month per cat. Never made a claim in that time. We currently pay about £32 per month for our Rottie, again with Petplan and fortunately we haven't need it yet.
In actual fact, this answer doesn't help you at all does it lol.
The majority of our kitten families use Petplan, it isn't cheap, however, the ones who have had to put in claims have had their money back within a week. It is always worth shopping around and make sure you read the small print to ensure that cover is for life as opposed to just for a set amount of time and make sure there are no monetary limits on an illness. For example, some companies will cover an illness for life, others will only cover it up until £5000 or so. So if your cat were to get diabetes at 3 years of age, then you would need lifetime cover for that illness. Does that make sense?
