With regards to training sunny, it just occured to me that u could try clicker training with him. Once u have all his basic stuff sorted, you could then go on to teach him tricks. If from wat u say he is a GSD cross BC then i expect that he is extremely clever so that would give him some mental stimulation ( and plus when you have ur mates round- you can show off his tricks
)
