When I was young I was allergic to horses but loved them, so wore gloves when touching them and suffered the blotches at home in tears... it soon went. Then I found I was allergic to cats. We adopted one that appeared on our doorstep... I suffered the blotches in tears and it soon went. Got some rabbits.. found out I was allergic to rabbits... you see where this is going.
In my experience, if you love something enough, you go through the pain and you build up a resistance. It's not pleasant, but having the animal close to you is worth so much more, in my opinion. Depends on how bad your allergy is.
Re the bones thing... do you have a butchers close to you? if so, go in and ask for a bone. It's FREE!!! find out the day they cut up the meat and they'll have the bones that they normally chuck. If you make it regular, they'll keep them aside for you. Big smiles help
