Flea collars aren't much good for getting rid of fleas especially ones bought at supermarets. My vet said they're useless actually so I use the spot on treatments.

To me your cats problem sounds like it's a flea allergy. Is your cat itchy or scratching as well?

Most vets offer a free flea check service so it might be worth asking your vets if they offer this service just to see if it is fleas.
