Hi Lucy-sorry i can't offer any advice as i've no personal experience with this issue
But i'm sure someone else on here will,wouldn't worry to much though as i know this is quite common with the more mature of gals and chaps but they will adapt as will you,good luck at the vets and i'm sure you'll both laugh lots whilst you learn new communication skills
