The same thing happened to my Poppy when she was a kitten. The blood looked fresh and I was really worried. I kept an eye on things and it cleared up after a couple of weeks. Apparently, kittens can get either piles or anal fissures (small cuts) due to the change in their diet. I'm not saying that this is fine, and as you're going to the vets on Tuesday anyway I'd check, but this was my own experience.

Any bleeding should be taken seriously, but some things can be really simple.

I'm by no way an expert, so I would ask your vet anyway.
