Re: registered?

Hi

I adopted 2 Maine Coon adults. The breeder had pink slips from the GCCF which she signed as having transferred ownership to me. I have to send them off to the GCCF with a £9.00 fee for each.

One of the MCs was a breeding queen who has been neutered. On advice of the breeder I rang the GCCF to ask how i put her on the inactive register (accompanying letter). I don't want to show but I do want to register thme on the MC database maintained for breeders to check on genetics, breeding etc

See here: PawPeds

I have their pedigrees back to 3 generations from the breeder. Once they are on the database any breeder can see their lines way back and what progeny they have.

if a MC lives to be 15 they then can be entered into the Methusalah Project which is a proxy for strong breeding lines

With my first MC I did not bother - he was a pet. But I see why this database is useful to breeders so if I own the cat I can submit the pedigree with due acknowledgement in the pedigree names to the breeders.
