Hi Fyfer, we are doing both - there is a trick and a behavioural element each month.

The trick has been changed and they were discussing this...I think nicky has updated it on the original post.

But the other part has remained the same.

I am trying to get maggie to sit on her mat until visitors are in by reinforcing her 'go to mat' training i already did, using the doorbell as a cue for her to go to the mat and then asking for a wait. Then if she comes off her mat, i am not opening the door, but will continue to open the door for a calm response and staying on her mat...

Then when visitors come in I will give her a release cue to 'go greet' and I want all 4 paws on the floor...so if she doesnt do this, people will turn their backs and if she does keep them on the floor, she will get fuss and praise and i will click her and reward too.

I wont just wait for visitors though, I am setting it up so that we can rehearse this lots before real visitors turn up!

I dont have problems with the barking...but am sure we can move the conversation to helping you with this...
