I think the point everyone is saying here loud and clear is that we all know our dogs irrespective of breed and we all handle the situation/walks as we see fit in the best interests of our dogs.

I can control my dog better on the leash than by verbal command. I am getting really good at controlling a loose dog at the same time. It used to be a nightmare but its getting easier as I have had loads of practice.
