In the scenario you have painted the other dog may well have just carried on minding it's own!!

My train of thought is, if you don't want incidents like this to happen then perfect your pets recall or keep the dog on a lead.

I agree with you on this one. You have reiterated my first post.

I should have been clearer with my second post too, I don't think a claim would be successful either which was why I suggested free legal advice.

The original post did read that the pup ran off to say hello, indicating the pup didn't respond to recall. The lady owner was able to restrain her aggressive dog indicating she had control of her dog.

In situations where I haven't seen the other dog and Duke's ran off to say a hello, more often than not if the other dog is on a leash the owner will let it go. Nothing wrong with that either, in some cases dogs can show aggression on the leash but be fine off the leash.
