I'd really be crossing the Bulldog off your list also, as stated in a previous post they can be difficult to housetrain and it would be nearon impossible to do without a garden!
Many don't like being left either, they do like the company of their people, if mine were left for more than a couple of hours I would come back to no home, they can be very distructive and extremely dirty dogs I've known Bulldogs punish their owners by messing in the house when they get left And that is the truth!
