Oh one of my favourite subjects!

It does concern me that a shelter can rehome a kitten without innoculating, deworming, defleaing etc. Is this a UK shelter?

I would lose the Whiskas and try a milder food for a bit - white fish and rice (rice to provide the carbs) is as bland as you can get.
A course of anti-biotics could be in order, so put him on Clavaseptin (or similar) for a week or so. Then dose him with probiotics to replace the 'good bacteria' that we hear so much about.

The scabs are probably down to a chronic flea problem, so get him Frontlined and follow up in a few weeks. Does he have any thin fur patches?
