My first dog had a warm waterproof coat as he had d.c.m and could not regulate his body temp and the cold, wet could literally have killed him it was that serious. My 2 now have one as we go to the local rugby club on a saturday they dont wear them while going up there but they are springers and go at it as you can imagine "full pelt" and by the time we get there they are fully warmed to say the least so when sat at the touch line for 80 mins they begin to shiver you can literally see the steam coming from them so the coat goes on just while they are stood, i think they need that and its sensible, its not a dressing up dog "thing"
proper dog coats I can understand, especially for less hardy dogs, they don't restrict any of a dog's natural instincts or movements. I'm thinking of getting a reflective one for Bob now the nights are drawing in as he's pretty difficult to see in the dark
