If there are a lot of people , whether the dogs know them or not , all the noise & excitement of a party is bound to wind them up , and excitable dogs jump around , can possibly nip (not through aggression) jump up at people ... could eat or drink something they shouldnt and you might not notice til its too late .... you may have guests who arent as dog happy as you are yourself, so it would ruin their fun to have the dogs around

Dogs are very sensitive so will be aware something new is happening , this will make them alert anyway ... Introduce the dogs to the people at the start of the party , but I just think it would be less stressful for the dogs to be shut away in a bedroom with a tv on or something and a fave treat once the party gets going
