with a half check the way the collar sits normally (as in the house) is as the same tightness as a normal collar would be when walking (2 fingers), so when the dog pulls in either direction it shouldnt be able to get out. Kira was determined to escape her collar at one point, gave up on the half check cuz she couldnt get out.

it all depends on wether you have it fitted correctly
