have you had a border collie before? they are very highly strung and take a lot of training. they are lovely pets if probably trained.

In general I'd agree with this advice, but my farm bred welsh collie pup was also reared in a kennel block outdoors and she's the most sociable, friendly, confident little thing - runs up to everyone with licks! She was only socialised with the farmer's family but that included 4 kids and several working dogs. Both parents were
very calm, friendly, laid-back dogs - that's why I chose her.
