Re: Bad Luck or Bad Breeder?

Hi

I am really so sorry to hear of the problems you have encountered.

I would add that being a "registered" breeder actually only means that a) you have a prefix and b) you generally are a member of a breed club and will/should have attended a seminar/(s). (Different breed clubs may have different policies) You generally sign up to a code of ethics but at the end of the day this isn't "policed" as such; no-one is likely to turn up on your doorstep to inspect how you keep your cats etc. I would add that 98% of registered breeders are genuine caring people but it is the other one or two uncaring percent who give us a bad name.

If you feel unhappy about the breeder in question and her treatment of you or her cats then perhaps you could raise it with the committee of the breed club of which she is a registered breeder. They could then look into it and ascertain whether they wish to have her as a registered breeder with them or rescind her membership.
