I think here you just have to end up keeping an eye on them. No matter what chews we've had, they always end up with chunks left which get stuck in throats nicely
Pig's ears were the worst for us as more of an awkward shape.
Luckily Rupert has always been one to munch on things, but never to swallow, like you can give him socks/chews etc and he will chew and chew but not swallow until it is very small usually.
