There seems to be some confusion here, perhaps I did not explain clearly. Jasper is an 8 month old lab/spaniel cross who is about a third of the size of a German Shepherd. He is strong for his size but is easily manageable. The woman with the large mouth was the one walking the GSD.

I did also explain that he had seen them come onto the field and then paid them no further attention until they passed very close and that when he did approach he stopped 5 yards away. He did not approach until I put him on the lead and took him right up after speaking to the lady.
