I said that NO ONE was allowed to lay a finger on Storm, I was so mad, I know hes old school (he's 76) but really, I thought I'd educated him a bit when we had Toby.
He also freaks out if storm has an "accident" and says we should rub his nose in it and tells Storm off despite me keep saying ignore the accidents and praise him when he goes outside 
Btw put the rug back tonight and fingers crossed Storms left it alone

That's the old way of doing things with puppies and it might be hard to educate your father in law at that age that it's not the done thing anymore. I think it's awful when somebody rubs their dogs nose in their mess, wonder if they would like that done to them?
