i am 22 and live with my partner and a friend stays with us when i got Bobby (beagle) and he messed anywhere other than his paper my friend who is 23 said i should have rubbed his nose in it i nearly died i have hardwood flooring so 2 secs and it is clean, but the worst thing is the amount of people i work with that have dogs say smack him when he does wrong (never done) i only reward him for good behavior, hard but ignore when he is doing wrong.

edited to add this part:
sorry forgot most of them say smack him on the nose that will teach him that makes me really angry i ended up going nuts and asking someone how would you like it if i smacked you on the nose and it was damaged and you couldn't smell anymore well thats what you can do to a poor defenseless dog.
