Dry heaves

My 2 year old Himalayan has dry heaves but produces no hair balls. What should I do? I give her hairball treatment every other day to everyday, now. Could it be something other than hairballs?
We scheduled an appointment Wednesday with the vet, but anything you guys can give me would help.
