My friend then said that was nothing and her and her dog go for 10 miles every single day! I know this is complete nonsense because she walks around my block once a day and its nothing like 10 miles!
Sometimes I think people have such a false idea of how long 1 mile is to walk, anyone else get this?!
One of our neighbours has a JRT and they said 5 miles is nowhere near enough for Roo and that their JRT walks over 12 miles daily. It starts to get at me when people say he doesn't go out enough, I know he gets plenty of exercise
I don't get it does anyone else get people like this

Your dogs sound as if they get plenty - as long as they are not pups - if so that would be too much.
I don't know any dog owner who measures distance - most of my dog owner friends talk in time.
FYI average human walking speed is 3 mph - so 12 miles a day is 4 hours of constant walking with no stops, gates, stiles or hills to slow them down - this is a lot of time everyday! sounds a little made up to me!
In my experience talking distance figures is usually an exaggeration - e.g. do you know any runners? if you ask them how far they ran yesterday they would say - oh I was out for about half an hour - not state a distance
