Ditto that!

Two of my girls came to me with ear mites I didn't notice the first one for a few weeks as her scratching wasn't too obvious, no head tilt etc but soon as I got the second one home and saw the black gunk we were straight down the vet.

A treatment of Stronghold will clear it up, handy as it also does fleas and worms, depending on how bad the infestation is the vet might also give you drops which is a little messy and not very nice for the cat so I'd def go for the stronghold if you can.
