I cannot believe that i am here on Rainbow Bridge again so soon.
My dear cat Molly had a stroke passed away in my arms at 3.45 am this morning.
I can't believe this has happened we are absolutely devastated as we lost Perry her brother in Sept 09.
Molly was blind and was diagnosed with IMHA in2004, she was given less than 30% chance of surviving the night.
IMHA immune mediated haemolytic anemia is an autoimmune illness where her immune system attacks her body cells etc. Against the odds she survived and we were told there was no cure and the illness was aggressive she was on medication to suppress her immunesystem.
Our previous vet was amazed that she was still with us 5 years post diagnosis, as it was unheard of, they normally don't survived past the first year.
last night around 2.AM i heard her being sick so i got out of bed to find her collapsed on the landing. I pick her up and she was in a bad way semi consciuos, and lifeless, she had wet herself.
i wrapped her in a blanket, laid on the bed with her on my chest and she slipped away.
I can't begin to tell you how dfevastated we feel at her loss we were still coming to terms with the sudden loss of her brother Perry in sept 09 from sudden renal failure.
My son took her body to the vets this morning for crematiom, and a vet was waiting to speak to him, he wanted to lets us know that Molly had survived against the odds and it was unheard of and we should be proud of her, he said that in all probability by what had happened that it was a massive stroke, her body had had enough..At this time this is of little consolation to me i can't stop crying i haven't been to bed, i have lost both my sweet cats..
The vets believes Molly & Perry were from a bad genetic line probably as a result of interbreeding, I wish people would do the responsible thing and neuter/spay their cats and suffering would be avoided.
I pay tribute to Molly who bore her illness with such bravery and dignity,Molly you were a true fighter with a sweet kind nature just like your brother Perry, go find him waiting you at Rainbow Bridge..we love you both xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Rest in Peace sweet Molly 2003-2009
