Cat With Terminal Illness On Metacam

Hi All

Ted was diagnosed with bone cancer about a month ago. Since then he has a daily dose of Metacam. The original lump we were concerned about has got bigger, and he is finding it harder to use his back legs so has been skipping and hopping.

He has been cleaning, purring, eating, but looks sad sometimes. Although a little off his food this morning, he managed to jump from the floor into the window to catch some sun before!

My Mum is concerned that he is in pain, im not sure...I dont want to put him to sleep before his time and nor do I wish to prolong his life if he is in pain. Obviously if his rear legs gave way, then we would probably pts as it wouldnt be fair on him. We just dont know what to do.

My Dad says that in the morning though, Ted seems a bit more lively...could this be because the Metacam has worn off a bit, were not sure if its building up in his system and making him a bit drowsy.

Its so hard to know what to do, we wish he could talk to, as we dont want to make the wrong decision. Its heartbreaking enough at the moment.
