i agree with above, the only safe amonia and nitrite levels are 0. I have seen some places say that very low levels are ok, but rememer its very toxic for your fishes.

also, once all is settled jsut start with one or two fish, as your first fish will upset the balance a little as well.

for the first 6 months you will probably be best testing the water as often as you can. After a while everything will settle and you will have a fantastic tank :-)
