have you tried hand feeding him?? my beardie loves being hand fed, actually all my lizards do it will get him used to your hands and show him that they dont mean harm. are you going in from the top of the tank or the side?? if you are going in from the top he is likely to be seeing you as he would a bird, and attack or run to defend himself, if you can try and go in with your hand at his level

brumation is like a state of hibernation, but not complete hibernation, it is a state in which an animal stays in times when food supplies and temperatures may be low. personally i wouldnt do this unless i was planning on breeding the next spring, its not necessary.
