if you get one from an adoption center then they normally come fully vaccinated and microchipped so it`s worth considering. i managed to have my boy neutered free of charge through the cats protection as they do a neutering scheme so you could find out if you qualify for help. if you get a boy then you definitely wanna have him done around 5/6 months otherwise he`ll start marking his territory!

make sure you have a scratching post, they can be bought quite cheaply argos do a really good one for under £10 and it has a bed on top which saves the expense of buying one (i bought a bed for mine an all he done was wee in it preferred sleeping on the scratching post)
