Hi I have posted a few times on the dog forum but not on the cat forum.
I have been feeding my dog on raw for the past 6 yrs or so with no problems.
Last year I got a kitten and straight away started him on a raw diet, of Chicken wings, heart, a small bit of liver and rabbit, he happily took to this diet. However as he started going out of the house I noticed his tastes changing and he started to refuse any other raw meat apart from the raw chicken wings still, I can only assume he got a taste of cooked o rtinned food from another cats dinner! so now he will only eat the odd tin , raw chicken wings, fish and occasionally prawns. He is a happy healthy cat so I am also happy!!! my dilemma is this...two months after getting my older kitten I acquired another little kitten who was also put on a raw diet, the problem is he has never taken to raw chicken wings . He loves heart and minced lamb meat, prawns and sometimes fish. While he was growing up I was concerned that he may be lacking in calcium as he would not eat bones and gave him kitten milk daily. However he is now a year old and although healthy and fit I am still concerned that he is not getting enough calcium in his diet etc. He refuses to drink cat milk anymore . I have tried him on Crushed egg shells sprinkled on chopped heart but he hates it and picks at the bits not coated in shell!!!!
He will have a chew at rabbit bones with meat ( I get this from my butchers) but I don't think its enough for him?
I noticed someone on here mentioned chicken drumsticks instead of wings? would this be a good way to encourage my fussy eater to try bone ? also I never considered drumsticks as thought the leg bone may be too big for a cat to digest? I am in the process of having some chicken necks delivered so am hoping he may try these?
If anyone knows of another way of getting calcium into my cat I would be grateful for any help.
