Our lovely Biscuit had pups over Easter. The 'father' was a chance meeting! But we exchanged numbers with his owner and he was in regular contact whilst she was pregnant as he said he was entitled to a puppy! Now whilst I know this is the case in pedigrees or arranged breeding I have felt forced to agree - our Biscuit is a mixed breed! He came and chose one of the six pups (a boy) two days after the birth. Now, he wants to introduce his puppy to his other dogs so they get used to it! I am not happy with this at all. He is saying his dogs (he has three - two boys and a girl) would be in his car and he would just let them sniff his puppy. I am concerned about any potential infections and also if this is OK. He has not paid anything towards the vet bills so far and just seems to be in it for a free dog in another 5-6 weeks? What does anyone think?

I'm not going to comment on the cross breeding aspect as everyone on this forum knows I have strong opinions on that.
A definate big NO NO to him bringing his other dogs to sniff the puppy, yes his other dogs can carry infection an pass it on,also mum to the litter might be aprehensive about letting strange dogs near her pups. They will have plenty of chance to get used to the pup when he takes it home.
He is not responsible for any cost while your bitch was pregnant nor for any while you have the pups, you usually paid a stud fee and are prepared for the costs of a bitch in whelp and raising the litter.
