Spayed girls put on weight very very easily. I would go along with your thinking and cut out her dry food altogether. Give her small set meals through out the day, try some lean raw meat or cooked white fish as a substitute to her wet. If you also choose a wet that has a higher % of meat ie 50% plus (so again less carb/soya fillers) plus has no added sugars or additives, you should be able to cut down her calorie intake.

If you don't have a Da Bird toy, I would invest in one. They are irresistible to cats and really get them moving. Even if she goes outside, they don't tend to do much outside other than mooch around. If you can get her jumping and running round the lounge and up and down the stairs then you should start to see the weight moving. It will be a slow gradual process though.
