Dry diets are the worst thing for cats with crystals/bladder probs - yes, even prescription diets. A raw diet is ideal for cats with these sorts of probs - the diet itself will keep the urine on the acidic side (as it should be).
One of my cats had cystitis and ultimately a urinary tract blockage about 6 yrs ago now (due to feeding dry plus stress related things - I was moving house) so I looked into the problem and decided to get all the cats back onto wet food and ultimately raw - he never had another problem.
