From what I understand, (and please someone correct me if I haven't got it right,) neutering a dog to stop certain issues occuring will only help if those issues are caused or increased by the hormone balance of the dog. We had our old gsd castrated in the hope that it would make him less aggressive to other dogs - it didn't work as his aggression wasn't caused by hormones.
