Geting hobs castrated isn't cruel. My two oldest are castrated and I'll be castrating my new boy too, as I'm keeping all my ferrets together is a big group. I don't know if they remove scent glands but the smell goes down a bit sometimes. I think castrating can prevent health issues but again I'm not too sure. I don't think getting them vasectomised would make much difference unless your going to use them to take jills out of season.
Have they always been kept inside? You might get more replies if you post as a new thead.
