Oh god, you have my sympathies - fleas are such a nightmare! We house-sat for some friends whose cat, it turned out, had a very bad case of fleas. She was so miserable  We tried all the different treatments - the spot on ones, the sprays, the 'bombs': all to no avail. Eventually we beat them, but it took about a month of constant various treatments (not to mention money!) and it included breaking the flea cycle by heating the house up really hot to make all the eggs hatch, and then tackling the hatched fleas.

PS: I'd recommend getting a pest control company in if you struggle to get rid of them, it's worth every penny!
