Re: Looking for a kitten
Having read your post, I am not keen to respond.
And rescues will be put off homing a kitten to your daughter when the first one was killed.
I am not judging here, but I am trying to explain why no one is responding.
A kitten has to be kept indoors till the age of neutering. So that means 5 - 6 months. Now of course we dont know what age the kitten was that was killed.
If there are main roads close by, then she will need to consider an indoor cat. A kitten is not streetwise, and these days when we home cats and kittens, how close the house is to a main road is a major consideration, when traffic keeps increasing.
If she contacts a rescue, then she will have a home visit and will be advised on how to keep the kitten safe etc., but she will be expected to offer a donation. That is done both to keep the funding going in order for rescues to keep on doing the work they do, plus to show a commitment from the new owner, as Vet Bills these days can be expensive.
So I would advise you to contact any of the local rescues, although I must warn you that kitten season seems to have dipped at the moment, and kittens are not as plentiful as they were a month or so ago.
