Whatever dog you decide on should be wanted by both of you.

Since you are a little fearful, I would suggest that you sit down with your husband and give him some idea of the dog you would be happy with. Perhaps you could come to a compromise and go for a medium size dog.

A little research goes a long way, so try googling some facts on the breeds that you like. Spaniels are always a popular choice, as are Labs and Retrievers.
