If you drop a cricket into the viv, it will more than likely quickly scuttle off. A locust tends to stay quite still and then hop into the air, not really going that far.
Even without these pro's, just the fact they don't tend to escape like crickets do should be enough to make anyone use locusts.

But if you look at the abdomen of the cricket, it clearly has a lot of gut, but the locust just has a thin abdomen.
There you can see a thick and fat abdomen..
But as you see on this one, its not as fat and thick.... Its just a bit of fun for beardies really...
