6 month old cat - blood in poo
Hi,
My 6 month old male has for the last few weeks been on and off with diarrohea, and has been to the vets a couple of times and also been castrated recently. He had diarrohea before castration so it had to be postponed, then the diarrohea stopped so his castration went ahead and he recovered well except the diarrohea returned. The vet said to bring im back the week after if it hadnt stopped, but it did stop so i didnt go back to the vets.
His poos have been fine for a few days, but just now he has done one and whilst it is normally formed and not liquidy, it has a little bit of fresh blood in it that looks like a clot the size of a pinhead.
He is absolutely fine in himself, has only recently started going outside but had diarrohea before that, is fully wormed/flead/vaccinated and was before it all began. We feed felix kitten, but did have purina pro plan at first, which we stopped as it was expensive. We have not changed from felix over the last couple of months so it cannot be a food change causing the differences in his bowel movements.
Obviously i am going to call the vets and get an appointment first thing Monday, but i wondered if anybody had any similar experiences or suggestions as a google search seems to bring up a whole range of possibilities. Im wondering if he might just have a sensitive bowel considering it comes and goes and doesnt seem to effect his temperament?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
