Re: dog and horse

We have a german Shepherd and when I started to take him to the horses I tied him up well away from them, yes he barked to start with but when he got used to being that distance and had stopped barking (this was within a few days) I moved him nearer this carried on until like now he is brilliant around them...... Once you start the trick is to keep it up you can't take him one day and leave it for a few days or a week it has to be constant......... Obviously it goes without saying always tie him up where you can see him. My horses are used to him being around now that he even tries to share their feed with them when they are having their breakfast or tea!!!! But I am not in a yard with other people so his barking didn't effect anyone else...So if you are in a yard it could be a bit more difficult...... But it is worth trying because I love taking Kaizer to our horses and also in the winter dark mornings and nights I feel safer and less vulnerable.... good luck
